$140,000 Is a Lot of Money for a Sinecure
I’ve repeated 100 times that Eanes paid $140,000 last year (and authorized $120K for this year) for a DEI grift. And when you think about this in terms of the DEI guy’s salary, it’s a lot of money. If he finds himself a couple more $140K/yr sinecures, he is sitting pretty—especially considering how little work is involved: pump out a dumb survey, write a shoddy report, promise to decolonize the curriculum, recommend Kendi’s work as the Lord-and-Savior text. Wash, rinse, repeat. It’s next to no work for a big, fat salary, easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy.
(Don’t take my word for it. Go read his survey. Go read his report. Worth $140K? BAHAHAHA. Just proves the Eanes School Board members are the easiest marks in the world of Texas school boards. Suckas. These emperors have no clothes.)
$140,000 Is a Lot of Money—Especially with Budget Constraints
And $140K is a lot of money when you read articles like this, which describe the District’s budget constraints heading into this school year. If Eanes truly faces budget constraints, then spending $140K on the DEI guy’s snake oil is absolutely a fiduciary fail. (#FireLeonardFireTheBoard!)
But Honestly, in Eanes, $140K Is NOT a Lot of Money
BUT BUT BUT let’s be honest: In Eanes, $140K is NOTHING. Go stand in a driveway in Rollingwood or Westlake Hills or Rob Roy, and you’ll see families who’ve spent $140K just on the cars in their driveways. (Not that there’s anything wrong with that. Work hard, play hard, drive hard. Not judging, just observing.)
To many Eanes families, $140K is chump change. Many Eanes families could write a check for the DEI guy’s salary right now.
And so when I express outrage— OMG, THE SCHOOL BOARD SPENT $140K ON THE DEI GUY—we know that by Eanes standards, that’s actually not a lot of money. It’s a shoulder shrug. Yeah, a $140,000. So what? In 2020, the Eanes Education Foundation granted the district $2.55 million & funded 50 teachers. Since 2004, EEF has granted the district $25.5 million & funded 521+ teachers.
Really, you think $140,000 is a big deal? HA!
And That’s How Little the School Board Values the District
And that brings us to the real outrage: for a mere $140K—THAT THE DISTRICT PAID HIM—the DEI guy was able to colonize Eanes at every level. For chump change, he was able to infiltrate and take over the thinking in Eanes ISD. He has put his woke Marxist stamp everywhere in the district. For a pittance, he has bought his way into employee surveys, teacher training, student groups, curriculum review, community outreach, and newspaper articles.
And let me say that clearly: EANES is PAYING HIM for the privilege of introducing woke politics. The irony is rich: he’s making six figures to teach Eanes kids to embrace identity Marxism. He’s making six figures to teach Eanes kids that capitalism sucks, that excellence is shameful, that the American system needs to be disrupted and dismantled, that “whiteness is an oppressive ideology,” that our kids should view everything—even the robotics team—through race. He’s making six figures to program Eanes kids to see the world though a depressing critical lens.
What a heartbreaking bottom line: The members of the Eanes ISD School Board think so little of the District that they sold it for a mere $140,000. For the School Board, that’s the price of the District’s soul.
