At every turn, the members of the Eanes School Board have denied that they are embedding Critical Race Theory—woke politics—into the District. They assert this claim over and over, but they never actually address the evidence to the contrary.
But here’s a prime example from 2019 of woke politics being injected into the District.
In April 2019, the District sent 4 employees to a workshop entitled Social Justice Teaching 101 (pg 82) and conducted by the Southern Poverty Law Center. According to Linda Rawlings, Senior Advisor to the District, they intended to bring “back what they had learned to share with other teachers. They decided to offer training to the entire staff in August of [2020].” (The training was tabled because of covid, and by July of 2020, the district had hired a $140K DEI consultant.)
So let’s review:
- The workshop was about social-justice teaching.
- It was conducted by the Southern Poverty Law Center.
- They planned to train the entire staff with the strategies from the workshop.
Were they out of their ever-loving minds?
- Social Justice Teaching IS applied Critical Race Theory. It IS woke politics
- The SPLC is a discredited activist group whose mission has morphed over the years from providing Civil Rights protections to promoting woke politics.
- And training the entire staff to engage in social-justice teaching? That’s embedding CRT into the District.
You are welcome to support social justice and the SPLC in your own home.
But it is indisputable that social-justice teaching is a woke political act.
And the SPLC is a woke political activist group.
Neither has any place in Eanes schools.
