Endorsing divisive racial essentializing? AYE!
Raising a collectivist critical consciousness? AYE!
Ditching the colorblind society? AYE!
Doing the work, baby? AYE!
The AYE AYE AYE AYE AYE AYE AYEs have it.
A remarkable 7-0 record in favor of all things DEI!
Nary a dissenting voice in the hall!
Here’s to the hive mind!
Nobody on that Board looked at Gooden’s consulting proposal and thought
-
wow, he has no proven track record of making race relations better anywhere;
-
wow, he has no proven track record of even working with any districts but AISD;
-
wow, he has no evidence, period;
-
wow, he has never described how we’d know if we didn’t need his services;
-
wow, he has never given any way to measure the success of his work;
- wow, he has proposed a project with endless need for his services.
Nobody on that Board looked at Gooden’s survey and thought,
-
wow, that question is wildly inappropriate to ask District employees;
-
wow, that question assumes a 1619 worldview that the District hasn’t endorsed;
-
wow, that question rejects a liberal, colorblind paradigm for judging individuals;
-
wow, that question is completely irrelevant.
Nobody on that Board looked at Gooden’s report and thought,
-
wow, that phony numerical scale doesn’t tell us a damn thing;
-
wow, that phony numerical scale, no matter the number, always says we need more Gooden;
-
wow, those personal anecdotes don’t tell us anything about the scale of the alleged problem;
-
wow, if students want to be heard, they have to have stories of racism;
-
wow, there’s no control group;
- wow, perhaps all middle-school student feel alienated, struggle with belonging, and find life exhausting;
-
wow, the report assumes that only white kids speak insensitively;
-
wow, the upshot is that if he doesn’t find racism, then he’s out of a job;
-
wow, his conclusion literally calls for more consulting and expanding the scope of the work.
Not one dissenting voice.
Not one strong, confident statement of concern.
Not even a meek whisper of doubt.
Nope.
Not one of them balked at the offensive Resources webpage.
Not one of them objected to the consultant’s faulty assumptions.
Not one of them questioned the consultant’s inappropriate survey.
Not one of them took a red pen to the consultant’s weak report.
Not one of them ever steps out of line.
Not one of them ever offers a dissenting view.
Not one of them ever thinks independently.
Nobody. None of them. Not one.
That’s the Eanes ISD School Borg.
