They Will Not Stop

James Lindsay, one of the most knowledgeable national critics of Critical Theory, asks the question, “What is your woke breaking point?”

At what point will the woke revolutionaries push you so far that you say enough is enough?  At what point will you look at woke Superintendent Leonard, the woke School Board members, and woke DEI consultant Gooden and yell STOP?  This is the line we will not cross.

Is there a policy you would refuse to follow? Is there some classroom rule you would refuse to make your child follow? Is there some wackadoodle worldview a teacher could say that you would refuse to accept? Is there something you would refuse to give up to improve someone else’s “equity”?

You might want to give this some thought.  Why?  Because the woke leaders of the Eanes School District have signaled that their actions so far—in their sneaky implementation of Critical Race Theory—are just the beginning.  Apparently, they have big plans for Eanes to continue ratcheting District policies to be even more woke.

In Their Own Words

Here are the words explicitly published on the Eanes DEI website telling us that initially the District administration is focused on race, but they don’t plan to stop there:

While we will focus on enhancing racial awareness initially, our goal is to improve access and increasing belongingness of all students, including those with religious, gender identity, cultural, ability and economic differences. Ultimately, our purpose is to develop a sense of belonging for all members of diverse groups. By taking these direct steps around racial awareness, EISD leaders will learn how to respond within the school district and the community to the direct and recent calls for change coming from various stakeholders. [Emphasis added.]

Here are Gooden’s words from his DEI Community Webinar, May 13, 2021, reiterating that they plan to expand the DEI initiative beyond race.  (Starts at the 10:00 mark.)

Again, I want to emphasize the survey has questions specifically focusing on race because that was the problem that we felt we were addressing in the construction of the survey and in the creation of questions.  And I can talk more about what that means later, but I want folks to understand that’s why went with that as the original focus.  That doesn’t mean this is where we are going to stop. [Emphasis added.]

And here an August 23, 2021 article in the Austin American Stateman highlights that both Superintendent Leonard and Dr. Gooden believe they are at the beginning of a DEI journey. (To read an article behind the paywall, try switching your browser to reader view.)

Gooden and Superintendent Tom Leonard have both said that the goal is to expand the initiative to encompass many kinds of differences and that the focus on race was born out of the feedback the district received from students and alumni last summer about how students of color experienced Westlake.  [Emphasis added.]

What could they possibly be considering? What actions do they have planned?

We’re starting with race initially.

But this doesn’t mean this is where we stop.

The goal is to expand the initiative.

Time to consider your woke breaking point because the woke ratchet always turns toward more woke—and because it’s a rachet, it never turns back.
