Re:       Why Did You Recommend Racist Resources?

___________________

Until July 2021, the Eanes ISD webpage recommended a resource to parents that states that whiteness is “ideology that reinforces power at the expense of others and strengthens systems of oppression.”

Members of the School Board, do you agree with this statement?

If not, then what actions have you taken to clarify the District’s official position on the matter?

  • Why was this racist message originally recommended by the District?
  • Why did you allow the recommendation to remain on the district webpage for over a year?
  • Have you reached out to the District employee who posted the racist recommendation to make clear that racism is not acceptable in Eanes?
  • Have you reached out to Linda Rawlings, advisor to the District and overseer of the Eanes DEI efforts, to make clear that this racist message is not acceptable in Eanes?
  • Have you reached out to Mark Gooden, DEI consultant to the District, to make clear that this racist message is not acceptable in Eanes?
  • Have you reached out to Eanes teachers to make clear that they should not be teaching this racist message in their classrooms?
  • Have you apologized to parents for directly recommending this racist resource to them?
  • Have you publicly clarified that the reason the recommendation list was removed is that you do not endorse such a racist message?
  • Given that you publicly recommended a message of racism for over a year, what steps have you taken to rectify this egregious mistake?
  • Will you publicly denounced this racist message and communicate to the Eanes community that any and all racism has no place in our District?

Thank you for your clarification of these important matters.  I await your response and your public apology to the Eanes community.
